Some info on the fishing. Please look at
the chart below. Traditionally the two best weeks are the last
two weeks in July. These weeks are booked first. The second
run of Kings are usually running during this time. The Reds
start around the last week in July or the first week in August.
The Pinks arrive during even numbered years. The best weeks
for pinks are traditionally the second week in August on. The
Pinks come in such numbers that it's non-stop catching. It's
nothing to catch and release 40 or 50 a day. The good thing
about the fishing here is, if the target fish aren't in, there's
always something else to go for. The upper Kenai river is great
for trophy trout. If the kings aren't in the Kenai yet, you
can go to the Kasilof river, just down the road. It's a drift
fishing river only. A great fly out trip is for silvers across
the inlet. This is not exactly wilderness fishing but you will
be fishing next to the brown bears. Sometimes within feet of
them. There are also true wilderness flyout trips if you desire.
If you tire of salmon and trout, there are the saltwater fishing
trips. They offer silver salmon still in the saltwater colors,
dogfish, halibut up to 300 pounds and lingcod. You can do semi-wilderness
canoe trips for 1 to 10 days.
